Haven't blog for a tad bit. Not going to brief you on the going ons of my life.
I want to talk about women. Not women empowerment but women who have inspired me recently.
The first woman that has greatly inspired me would be
Aisyah (May Allah be pleased with her), wife of Prophet Muhammad S.A.W
Her admirable attributes in my eyes
1. Charitable
Once Aisyah R.A received 70,000 dirhams and all of which she donated to the poor. Subahanallah, these days it is hard to find women of such value.
2. Her inquisitive nature
She would ask Prophet Muhammad S.A.W to explain in details almost about everything until she gets it.
There are of course many other qualities about her that I love as I read my mounting amount of books.
Frankly, I did not elaborate much because
1. I might remember her story only briefly at the moment (hence I'm afraid if I misquoted anything)
2. I might spend all night searching for specific stories that I thought of (see clause above -> mounting amount of books)
The 2nd women that has greatly inspired me would be
Yvonne Ridley
She is a British journalist who converted into Islam 2 1/2 years ago. She wrote the book "In the hands of the The Taliban’s".
How she converted was rather interesting. She was captured by the Taliban when she managed to get into Afghanistan for her assignment.
How was freed by the Taliban? She promised them that she will learn and read the Al Quran.
Amazingly she kept her promise once she flew back to U.K.
Before learning about Islam she thought Islam promoted the idea of man beating wife and women as 2nd class citizen.
To her amazement, she found out women's right is promoted largely in the Al Quran.
Now in her hijab, she has been the voice of many Muslim societies. Be it in Britain or the world.
I could seriously relate to her stories because I too wear a hijab now, for almost 20 days Alhamdulillah.
Every time when I feel uncertain or down about my recent hijrah, I would reaffirm myself and say "You are doing this for Allah and there is no other reason greater than that" and secondly I would always remember Yvonne Ridley.
Her strength and her bravery of speaking out is something to be admirable of.
For now that is just 2 of the women that has greatly inspires me.
I admit, I'm too far from perfect when it comes to following the right path.
Even though in my hijab, I still love the sound of Arctic Monkeys and Kings of Leon. I would rave about how Kings of Leon will be coming up with a new album "Come around sun down" out Oct 14. (See I'm even promoting it now :P)
I would still watch the video of Lolla Palooza concert.
I am still fanatic about coca cola and its merchandise (Drinking one right now!)
I am not shy about my Wohooo's and AuuwwwWw's
I guess all of that is a little hard to tame. It has been a part of me for such a long time.
However, I am trying to do my best and adhere to the Sunnah as much as I could. Thou on many occasions I fell short.
Anyway enough of my rants hope all of u have a great last 10 days of Ramadhan. Make the best out of it.
I am sure the woman that inspires you has a great deal of values already embedded in u.
Have a blessed night everyone :)
